Teddy Bear Sleepover at Ridley Township Public Library

Children ages 3 and up…and teddy bears of all ages
Children can bring their favorite stuffed animal to the library and enjoy a reading of this year’s PA One Book Every Young Child selection, “My Cousin Momo”, written by Zacharia Ohora.
Afterwards, teddy bears will be left in the care of Ms. Lauren for a sleepover at the library! During their stay, animals will receive a tour of the new library, watch a movie, enjoy snacks, create a craft, and hear some bedtime stories before being tucked in for the night Children can pick up their friends the following day beginning at 1pm. Teddy bears will also be given a CD containing photos from their adventure at the library to take home and share with their family!

Due to the recent rain throughout this week, Rosetree Park is flooded and we had to make the difficult decision to cancel our 5k and our walk. The good news is, Springton Lake Middle School was gracious and kind enough to offer their auditorium for us to have our ceremony. Truth is, THIS IS WHAT THIS WHOLE EVENT IS REALLY ABOUT! The Walk is fun, the run is fun BUT the most important part of the day is our ceremony. It’s our chance to HONOR our heroes. We strongly encourage everyone to PLEASE ATTEND and let’s show these heroes that have traveled many miles to be here just how much we LOVE and RESPECT their sacrifices!! All sponsors and vendors will still be supplied the tables that they need. We will be allowed to set up throughout the hallways of the school. Set up at 9am. Springton Lake Middle School- 1900 N. There are many threatened, endangered, and even extinct species around the world and at the Museum. Visit special hands-on learning stations, get a closeup view of an extinct species, and meet experts in the field. We will also be reading Can We Save the Tiger? by Martin Jenkins for story time, with a tiger headband craft in the Nature Nook. Learn about some of the issues threatening local and global species, and more importantly, what YOU can do to help!

Delco YL Color Blast 5K

Join in on Saturday, May 19th for a COLORFUL 5K run that helps send kids to summer camp! There’s also a Family Fun Run (1 Mile) that you can walk or run! 
This is a chipped, timed, color-run where participants will run around Garnet Valley Middle School, being doused with color along the way. The color is a cornstarch based powder that is non-toxic and biodegradable. The experience ends with a giant paint war open to all runners. Participants are encouraged to wear white!!!

Star Wars Day at The Zoo

at Brandywine Zoo
Tickets are on sale now! $8 for ages 3 and up. 
Brandywine Zoo members are FREE.
Star Wars characters will be stationed throughout the Zoo and you are encouraged to take pictures. Two timed admission tickets are for sale. Noon and 1:30pm. Gates open at 11am, so Noon tickets can arrive early. Characters will take a 15min. break at 1:15pm.
No reciprocal Zoo admissions or Guest passes will be accepted on this day. Parking is free, but limited. Overflow parking will be available at Baynard Stadium and across the North Van Buren Street bridge. First State Garrison will be accepting new, unwrapped toys to be taken to local children’s hospitals. We are limiting tickets to ensure everyone has an enjoyable day with the Zoo animals and the Star Wars characters.
Brandywine ZOO Members: Please bring your current Brandywine Zoo membership card and photo ID to the Gate entrance. Any extra tickets beyond your membership level, will need to be purchased ahead of time since this event sells out and tickets will not be available at the door.

Mindfulness through Birdwatching with Karin Marcus

Mindfulness, the art of being fully present, partners naturally with bird watching which is fundamentally the practice of savoring the moment. This will be a leisurely bird walk placing an added emphasis on awakening the senses and stilling the mind.
Walk will meet at visitor center and be at a relaxed paced on flat surfaces. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress in layers. Binoculars can be loaned from the front desk before the walk. No registration required.

Antique Car Show, Flea Market at Linvilla Orchards

Linvilla Orchards has partnered with The Historical Car Club of Pennsylvania (HCCP) for over three decades to present their annual Spring Meet. More than 250 spectacularly restored and maintained antique, classic, and muscle cars take over one of Linvilla’s big fields. Previous highlights have included a 1913 Ford Model T, a 1938 Ford Woody Wagon, a 1958 Chevy Impala and a 1962 Chevy Corvette.
This year for the first time ever, Linvilla has ALSO partnered with the Brandywine Valley SPCA, enabling us to bring out some homeless shelter animals looking to find the perfect family while engaging everyone and enjoying the festivities! We will be located in the flea market with a doggie kissing booth and many precious animals hoping to be adopted!
